Course Description
Suitable for the novice operator who wishes to maintain and operate chainsaws for crosscutting only. This two day training course prepares the trainee to take the NPTC independent assessment unit CS30 (003920)

Content
• State and identify the necessary clothing required and locate the various standard marks
• Identify safety features on a chainsaw
• Maintain the guide bar and sharpen chains to manufacturers specifications
• Carry out correctly all routine maintenance
• Prepare the chainsaw for use with the correct fuel and oil mix and chain lubrication
• Start the chainsaw from both cold and hot in a safe manner
• Cross cut timber accurately to required lengths in a safe manner and organise site safety
 

NPTC Assessment takes place on a separate day
